Pierre Omidyar takes the tax hit to invest philanthropically in for-profits and nonprofits
Pierre Omidyar sought more flexibility than the 5% foundation payout model offered. He says the loss of $1-2 million in annual tax deductions is a small price to pay to “use the power of the private sector to improve people’s lives at a very large scale."
