Conflict of Interest Policy

How we work to avoid conflicts of interest.

Bridgespan's theory of change is anchored in working with both nonprofit organizations and donors. By design, we seek a 50/50 mix of work with nonprofit and donor clients. Our deep work with both allows us to see vividly the particular challenges and opportunities each face, enabling us to serve all our clients better. Additionally, this perspective puts us in a distinctive position to address market failures that prevent capital from flowing at more meaningful levels to social change organizations.

In doing this work, we are careful to avoid conflicts of interest. This means that when donor clients consider funding our past or present nonprofit clients, we do not share confidential client information. We are clear with our nonprofit clients that we do not design or run capital campaigns. And we do not make introductions to donor clients or share confidential information about donor priorities or strategies. Additionally, we are advisors, not deciders; our clients hold all decisions about how they set their strategies and deploy their resources.
