Sophie Kainen

Sophie Kainen is a senior manager in Bridgespan’s New York office. Since joining Bridgespan in 2022, Sophie has supported organizations focused on a range of issue areas (including public health and climate change) developing ambitious and equitable growth strategies on behalf of philanthropy.

Sophie has worked across the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. Prior to joining Bridgespan, Sophie was an Advisor in the Office of Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, where she supported the operational response to the COVID-19 pandemic. During a 5-plus year tenure at Bain & Company, Sophie developed expertise in implementing new operating models, developing growth strategies, and breaking down institutional silos in large, complex organizations. Sophie has also worked at the Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation, in Kenya at One Acre Fund, and was part of Barack Obama’s presidential primary campaign in New Hampshire.

A native New Yorker, Sophie holds her MBA (with distinction) from Harvard Business School, her MPP from Harvard Kennedy School, and a BA, magna cum laude, in International Development Studies and Economics from Brown University.
