Jari Tuomala
Senior AdvisorJari Tuomala is a senior advisor for and former partner at The Bridgespan Group. He works with nonprofit and philanthropy organizations, helping them to develop and implement new strategies and improve their operating models. At Bridgespan, Jari's work in philanthropy spanned large foundations, family foundations, and philanthropic intermediaries. His philanthropy clients include Robin Hood, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Poses Family Foundation, Stars Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Jari's work for international NGOs includes strategy and operating model redesign work with Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Population Services International, Right to Play and Women’s World Banking. He co-authored “Stop Starving Scale: Unlocking the Potential of Global NGOs” (Bridgespan.org, April 2013). He has also worked with a range of domestic nonprofits, including Goodwill Industries, NAF, The First Tee and Crisis Text Line. In addition, Jari has deep experience in founder transitions and he co-authored “Making Founder Successions Work” in Stanford Social Innovation Review in 2018.
Prior to joining Bridgespan, Jari spent 18 years with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in their London, Helsinki, Boston, and Washington, DC, offices, where he led the Industrial Goods and Nonprofit practices and accumulated significant experience in strategy development and organizational restructuring in the corporate sector. Jari received his MBA with distinction from INSEAD and his MSc in Industrial Management and Paper Technology from Helsinki University of Technology. In addition, he completed an executive coaching certificate at Georgetown University.
